Campus Estates Animal Hospital on Gordon Street South is about 7 km from downtown, and Dr. Michael Taylor there has practised avian and exotic medicine since 1982. It isn't a walk-in emergency room: out of hours you phone, and they arrange to see you. Clinics as far away as Mississauga, Bowmanville and Brantford send their own bird emergencies to it.

Guelph Counts Its Birds

Guelph has been counting its birds for a long time. Its naturalists, now Nature Guelph, joined the Christmas bird census in 1967. On the 56th count, held in strong winds and snow on December 18, 2022, a record 75 volunteers went out.
