The people behind it
Bird Sitting Toronto is the two of us, and it started with a budgie. Matcha, born in 2017, became Samantha’s first bird in 2019: a feisty two-year-old who took her time deciding to trust anyone, and the reason Samantha has cared for birds ever since. In October 2021, the year we got married, that became a business.
We started out in Toronto, which is where the name comes from. Today we look after birds from our family home in Mississauga, where we are raising our two young children alongside a flock of our own — two budgies, two finches, a canary and two conures. It is a busy, happy house, and a bird staying with us is part of it.
Samantha looks after the birds. She is the one who welcomes yours at the door, learns its routine, and takes the photos and video you get every day. She also wrote Parrot Parenting, a guide for bird owners. Amir looks after everything else: the online quote and booking, the confirmations, and the BST Mobile App your updates arrive in. So you can price and book a stay whenever it suits you, and Samantha’s time goes where it should — to the birds.
