The Duck Rafts Off Oakville's Shore
Oakville's whole lake frontage sits inside an Important Bird Area. Each late winter and early spring, diving ducks gather offshore in the thousands, sometimes tens of thousands, drawn by mussels on the lake's shallow shelves. Bronte Harbour, built in 1856 where Twelve Mile Creek meets the lake, puts you right at the water's edge to watch them.
