Bird boarding for Oshawa bird owners

Ritson Road takes you from central Oshawa to the 401, and from there it is one road west for about 70 km, past Whitby, Ajax and Pickering and across Scarborough, roughly 64 minutes without traffic before you reach Mississauga and us. Leaving your bird with us on the way to Pearson adds about 14 minutes.

Bird vets nearest Oshawa

Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic on Highway 2, about 21 km east, sees birds alongside cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets and reptiles, and is open until 7pm Monday to Thursday. If a bird emergency comes up after hours, that clinic sends birds to Campus Estates in Guelph or to The Links Road Animal & Bird Clinic in Toronto.

The Marsh Oshawa Saved Twice

Oshawa's Second Marsh sits where Harmony and Farewell creeks reach Lake Ontario. Naturalists fought a plan to dredge it into a deep-water port from 1972 until 1984, when it was declared excess land. Then in 1988, worry that a tall glass head office for General Motors would harm migrating birds changed the design, and the farmland around it became the McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Reserve.

  • 1962a Little Gull nest found here, the first recorded in North America
  • 305bird species recorded at Second Marsh
  • 106of them nest in and around it

Oshawa clearly puts its birds first. We do the same for yours while you are away, with photos and videos in the app every day.
