Can I leave my bird for the day and collect it the same evening?

Bird daycare in Toronto

Drop your bird off in the morning and collect it the same evening. It spends the day out of the cage with the flock, and you get the same photo and video update in the BST Mobile App.

The short answer

Yes. Drop off in the morning, collect before we close, and the day is billed at the same per-bird day rate as an overnight stay — from $14.75 for a small bird. There is no separate daycare price and no minimum number of days.

How Long The Day Can Be

Weekends are shorter, so check the day you need. Drop-off and pick-up are booked as time slots.

One day, start to finish

What The Day Looks Like

  1. Coco, Conure, one of the birds Bird Sitting Toronto has looked after
    Drop-off, from 9am

You arrive at a slot agreed with us and your bird goes into its own cage in the aviary — never a cage shared with a bird it does not live with.

  2. Pablo, Duck, one of the birds Bird Sitting Toronto has looked after
    Settling in

Food and water go in, along with anything you have sent. If you would rather we fed ours it is $2 per day.

  3. A sun conure and a cockatiel out on the playstand
    Through the day

It comes out of the cage during the day, on the playstand, the same as every boarding bird.

  4. Daisy and Weenie, Budgies, one of the birds Bird Sitting Toronto has looked after
    On your phone

Photos and video of your bird arrive in the BST Mobile App — the same update an overnight client gets.

  5. Peaches, Sun Conure, one of the birds Bird Sitting Toronto has looked after
    Pick-up, by 7pm (3pm at weekends)

You collect before we close. The bird goes home the same evening with whatever came with it.

Daycare Questions

What time do I have to collect by?

7pm monday to friday, and 3pm saturday and sunday — the weekend day is 4 hours shorter, which catches people out. Drop-off and collection are both booked as a slot inside those hours so somebody is free to take your bird in and hand it back properly.

Is a day cheaper than an overnight stay?

No — it is the same per-bird day rate, from $14.75. The work is the same either way: the cage, the food, the out-of-cage time, the health check and the update all happen whether the bird goes home at six or stays until Sunday. There is no separate daycare price to look up.

Can one day turn into an overnight if my plans change?

Yes. Tell us as soon as you know rather than at collection time — the space is what we need to check, not the paperwork. There is no penalty for extending a stay.

Do I need to bring a cage for a single day?

Your bird needs one, but it does not have to be yours. We keep 15 rental cages priced individually between $4 and $10 a day. Ask when you book rather than on the morning — there is a fixed number of them.

Do you need anything from my vet for one day?

The same as for any stay: a recent vet visit with a clean bill of health. A bird that has not had one can still come — we just limit how much it mixes with the other birds. The full answer, including when we ask for more, is on the FAQ page.

Can I bring two birds for the day?

Yes, and if they already live together they can share one cage at the additional-bird discount — 50% off an additional small bird, 25% off an additional medium or larger one. Birds that do not live together get a cage each.

How far ahead should I book a day?

A single day still needs a space in the room, so book it like a stay. Most ordinary dates can be arranged the same week; Christmas and August go first, often weeks ahead.
