📝 Terms & Rehoming Policy
By joining our adoption waitlist and submitting your information, you agree to the following terms:
1. Commitment to a Safe, Lifelong Home
We believe that every bird deserves a loving, stable, and permanent home. By signing up, you acknowledge that adopting a bird is a long-term responsibility that may span 10–30+ years depending on the species.
2. Rehoming is Not First-Come, First-Served
Our priority is the welfare of each bird. While we do consider the order of submissions, matches are made based on the best fit between the bird’s needs and the adopter’s lifestyle, experience, and environment.
3. Waitlist Does Not Guarantee Adoption
Joining the waitlist expresses interest but does not guarantee an adoption opportunity. Bird availability is limited and dependent on incoming rehoming requests.
4. Reasons Birds Are Rehomed
Birds may be placed for rehoming due to:
Neglect or inadequate care
Lifestyle changes (e.g., newborn baby, new partner)
Owner relocation (e.g., moving abroad)
Declining health or death of the owner
Behavioral issues or mismatched household fit
Noise complaints or neighbor conflicts
Allergies in the home
Lack of time or resources to properly care for the bird
5. Adopter Responsibilities
If matched with a bird, you agree to:
Provide a bird-safe environment (e.g., no toxic fumes, proper cage setup)
Meet the bird’s physical, emotional, and dietary needs
Seek avian veterinary care when needed
Never sell, breed, or neglect the bird
Contact us if you are no longer able to care for the bird, so we can assist in rehoming again if necessary
6. Home & Background Checks
We may request photos, videos, or a virtual home check before completing an adoption. This is to ensure a safe and prepared environment.
7. Confidentiality & Privacy
All information submitted is confidential and will only be used for internal review and potential adoption contact. We do not share or sell your personal information.
8. Policy Updates
These terms may be updated as our policies evolve. By remaining on our waitlist, you accept the most recent version of the policy.
