Which parrot is quieter than a conure, and a cousin of the Senegal? Meet the Meyer's parrot.

A Meyer's parrot is quieter than a conure, and a cousin of the Senegal. And it likes a steady day.

It boards with us as a medium bird, alongside our conures, cockatiels and quakers.

So we keep to the routine you describe on the registration form, every day of the stay.

It's out of the cage between 9 AM and 7 PM, about four to six hours a day, depending on how it gets on with the others.

You get daily photo and video updates in the BST Mobile App, so you always know how your Meyer's is doing.

Quiet, steady and right at home. Book a stay at birdsittingtoronto.ca.

Questions About Boarding Meyer's Parrots

Will you keep my Meyer's on its routine?

Yes. A Meyer's likes a steady day, so we keep to the routine you describe on the registration form.

Is my Meyer's parrot out of its cage while it boards?

Out of the cage between 9am and 7pm — about 4–6 hours a day, depending on how your bird gets on with the others.

What does my Meyer's parrot need from a vet before it comes to us?

A recent vet visit with a clean bill of health. We used to require negative polyomavirus and chlamydia tests, but vets have questioned the need for them, so a recent check-up is what we ask for now. If a bird is not domestic, or has been exposed to pathogens or to a high-risk environment, we may still ask for additional testing. We also check every bird over ourselves on arrival. If a bird has not had a recent vet visit we can still board it — we just limit its interaction with the other birds.

How often should my bird's nails be trimmed?

There is no schedule — trim them when they start catching. If your bird's nails snag on fabric or on your hand, or the tips have gone needle-sharp, it is time. Some birds need it every couple of months and some go a year.
