Which little parakeet waddles when it walks, and hangs upside down from its perch? Meet the linnie.
Lineolated parakeets, or linnies, are known for their friendly, playful personalities. They're generally quiet and social.
On average, a linnie lives about ten years. Small and stocky, they're often called the quietest and most relaxed of all parakeets.
Despite their size, linnies love to climb and bathe. And they're known for waddling when they walk, and hanging upside down from their perches.
A linnie boards with our small birds, away from anything big enough to bully it. It's out of the cage between 9 AM and 7 PM, about four to six hours a day, depending on how it gets on with the others.
You get daily photo and video updates in the BST Mobile App, so you always know how your linnie is doing.
Gentle, quiet and always a joy to have. Book a stay at birdsittingtoronto.ca.

Questions About Boarding Linnies
Will my linnie be near the bigger birds?
No. Linnies board with our small birds, away from anything big enough to bully them.
Is my linnie out of its cage while it boards?
Out of the cage between 9am and 7pm — about 4–6 hours a day, depending on how your bird gets on with the others.
What does my linnie need from a vet before it comes to us?
A recent vet visit with a clean bill of health. We used to require negative polyomavirus and chlamydia tests, but vets have questioned the need for them, so a recent check-up is what we ask for now. If a bird is not domestic, or has been exposed to pathogens or to a high-risk environment, we may still ask for additional testing. We also check every bird over ourselves on arrival. If a bird has not had a recent vet visit we can still board it — we just limit its interaction with the other birds.
How often should my bird's nails be trimmed?
There is no schedule — trim them when they start catching. If your bird's nails snag on fabric or on your hand, or the tips have gone needle-sharp, it is time. Some birds need it every couple of months and some go a year.
