Cockatiels are the species most prone to night frights, so their cages sit away from doorways and the room keeps a low light overnight. They are also the ones most likely to arrive on a seed-only diet, so we keep the food you send rather than switching them mid-stay.
Cockatiels are regulars here, and there is usually at least one other cockatiel staying with us, so yours is rarely the only one of its kind.

How much is cockatiel boarding?
$19.75 per bird per day. Cockatiels sit in our medium birds band (most conures, cockatiels, quakers). Longer stays are charged at a lower rate per day — the discount is already factored into your quote, so there is nothing to ask for.
What about night frights?
It is the single most common cockatiel problem we see. Cages are positioned away from foot traffic, there is a low light overnight, and if a bird thrashes we hear it — the birds are not left in an empty part of the house.
Do I need to bring my own food?
Yes, and it is better that you do — a diet change on top of a new house is two changes at once. If you would rather we feed ours it is $2 a day, and fresh chop is $2 a day on top of whatever you send.
